The Chinese marketplace Tmall, a part of the Alibaba Group, launches trade in goods for home and repair in Russia. The service is available to buyers since April 26, writes “Kommersant”. At the first stage the assortment portfolio will include 250 names, within half a year the company plans to expand it to 4,000 names. The first partners of the company in Russia will be the brands Robert Bosch, Gardena, Makita, Metabo. Purchases will be delivered all over Russia, also through PickPoint operator.
To date, the range of Tmall has over 25,000 items in five categories – electronics, clothing, baby products, baby food and FMCG. In Q1 2018, the average purchase amounted to about 6,000 rubles according to Tmall data. Tmall has been operating on the Russian market since September 2017.
E-commerce DIY market in Russia is estimated at 95 billion rubles. It grew over the year by 40%, buyers during this time made more than 8 million orders online. In general, the turnover of the Russian DIY market in 2017 increased by 1.8% to 1.4 trillion rubles.
